Farewell Mr. Sarowa

We have been very fortunate to have Mr. Jinder Sarowa as the leader of our school, serving as principal, for the past 6 1/2 years. We are grateful for his many contributions, his enthusiasm and his belief in success for all. We will cherish fond memories of his fun performances at pep rallies, his friendly greetings in the hallways and his daily encouragement of students and staff. We would like to thank you, Mr. Sarowa, for the countless hours you have invested in the people who work and learn here. We wish you all the best as you embark on your new journey as Principal of Robert Bateman Secondary. You have made a difference in the lives of many. Best wishes to you and your family.

Our very own Mrs. Doreen Petersen has been recognized with the coveted BC Secondary School Counsellors Excellence Award and was recently featured in the Abbotsford Times (click here for article). Mrs. Petersen, a counsellor at Hansen since its beginning 16 years ago, was nominated by three of her colleagues in the district. Take Our Kids to Work Pictures

On Wednesday nearly half of our grade 9 students took part in the national Take Our Kids to Work day. Congratulations to Dylan Friesen on winning the $25 Movie Pass. Dylan went to work with his Dad at Skytrain for the day. Great job, Dylan!
Become a Parent Ambassador

Thank you to all parents who attended the parent dinner on Oct. 21st. We had a good turn out and everyone enjoyed a lovely roast beef dinner courtesy of our culinary program. Thank you to Chef Jones and company.
At the dinner, we discussed our Parent Ambassador program here at Rick Hansen Secondary. This program welcomes parents to get involved in the school culture and act as volunteers at school functions. We encourage parents to get involved and welcome you assistance to any of the following activities: Parent Walkabouts, School Dances, Wheels in Motion, Convocation, Dry Grad, Grad Fashion Show. Perhaps you are available to volunteer some time in the school store at lunch (11:50am - 12:35pm).
If you are available and wish to assist with any of these functions, please contact Maureen Zuest via email (maureen_zuest@sd34.bc.ca) or by phone (604-864-0011). We look forward to your presence in the school.

Texas Football
