Library
The Rick Hansen Library is a library for the 21st century! Equipped with a Computer Resource Room, the library is capable of contacting databases on a world-wide basis for the most current information. In the rapidly changing world in which we live the accessibility to such information is crucial to student success! An excellent range of fiction and non-fiction books provide resources for school and home use as well.

Students are welcome to do research for assignments, quiet individual or group study, or simply browse the collection to find materials for recreational enjoyment. Students should always carry both their Student I.D. Cards and their public library cards with them. The Student Cards allow them to sign out books and the public library cards allows them to access additional databases on-line.

In the RHSS Library, the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) is used for the non-fiction and reference collections. Fiction is arranged alphabetically from A to Z by first three letters of authors last name. Dewey Decimal System divides knowledge into ten different broad subject areas, called classes, numbered 000 - 999. Materials that are too general to belong to a specific group (encyclopaedias, newspapers, magazines, etc.) are placed in the 000's. These 10 main classes are further subdivided into subclasses to incorporate smaller subjects.
